Intent & Signal Marketing

Buying research happens anonymously. Signal-based programmes tell you which of your target accounts are in-market now, so effort goes where the timing is right.

The problem

Why This Exists

Most buying research is anonymous. By the time an account identifies itself, the shortlist is usually written. Signal-based programmes are how you find out which named accounts are looking while it still matters.

What we do

What Intent & Signal Marketing Actually Involves

Define the signals that matter

Not every signal is worth acting on

Which research behaviours, site actions, hiring moves and technology changes actually correlate with your deals — decided before buying any data.

Wire the signal into the CRM

So it reaches a human

Account-level alerts routed to the right rep with context attached, rather than a dashboard nobody opens.

Act on it with a play, not a blast

Signal without a response is noise

Defined plays per signal type — what marketing does, what sales does, and within what window.

Be honest about the data

Intent data is directional

It tells you where to look, not what will close. We use it to prioritise effort, never as a substitute for qualification.

Our methodology

The Account Engine

Every account-based programme we run moves through the same six stages, in the same order. It is the reason two different clients get the same rigour rather than whatever their strategist happened to prefer.

The Account Engine — the six stages every NewLife account-based programme runs through, in order.

01 · Objective

The number the programme is judged on, the motion that gets there, and who owns each part. Agreed with sales and finance before anything is built.

02 · ICP

Firmographic, technographic and behavioural definition of accounts that can buy at your size and expand afterwards — not everyone who could theoretically use the product.

03 · Target accounts

A finite target account list, tiered 1:1 / 1:few / 1:many by what each account is worth, scored for fit and signed off by sales.

04 · Value proposition

What changes for the economic buyer, the champion, the technical evaluator and the blocker — each answered separately, because they are asking different questions.

05 · Playbooks

The channels, content and sequences that run against each tier, with entry and exit criteria so a play either earns its place or stops.

06 · Delivery & measurement

Account coverage, buying-committee reach, pipeline created and influenced, velocity and win rate — reported with the attribution window stated.

Measurement

What Gets Reported

The numbers

  • In-market accounts identified
  • Signal-to-engagement rate
  • Response time on high-intent accounts
  • Pipeline from signal-triggered plays
  • Account coverage of the target list
  • False-positive rate

How we report them

  • Platform-reported values labelled as such
  • The attribution window stated on every view
  • Early-stage data flagged as early-stage
  • No cross-platform summing presented as revenue
  • Nothing published we cannot show you the source for

The house rule does not change with the service.

Intent & Signal Marketing FAQ

Do we need to buy an intent data platform?

Not necessarily. First-party signals — your own site, CRM, email and sales engagement data — are under-used at most companies and cost nothing extra. We would exhaust those before recommending a purchase.

Is intent data accurate?

It is directional. It is good at telling you an account is researching a category and poor at telling you they will buy from you. Treated as prioritisation it is valuable; treated as qualification it wastes sales time.

Is this compliant?

Account-level intent works on aggregated, company-level signals rather than identifying individuals. We keep programmes to that level and to the platform's own permitted use.
